This guide will tell you how to add/delete chapter with VSO ConvertXtoDVD.

A chapter is an invisible mark in the video that helps you navigate through the film as you are watching it. Instead of fast-forwarding to a specific point you can jump at intervals, these intervals are chapter points that you can determine here.

You can free download ConvertXtoDVD here or buy it now(15% Off). If this is your first time to use ConvertXtoDVD you might want to check a complete guide on how to use ConvertXtoDVD to create your own DVD movie.

There are two ways to add chapters to your DVD in ConvertXtoDVD.

1. Automatically add equal length chapters

After loading your video files into ConvertXtoDVD, click "Settings" and select "Chapters" in the drop-down menu.

In the Chapters window, you will notice the two options: "Create Chapter every" and "For titleset longer than". Default value is 5 minutes for titlesets longer than 15 minutes.

"Create Chapter every" allow you to automatically insert a chapter every X minutes or seconds. M = minutes, S = seconds. If unchecked, no chapters will be added automatically. Always a chapter point will be created at start of a Title. You can not delete this first one!

"For titleset longer than" will insert a chapter at the value indicated above only if the video is longer than the specified duration (default set value is 15 minutes). Always a chapter point will be created at start of a Title. You can not delete this first one! For example this means that no additional chapters will be added if you would add a video that is only 10 minutes long, e.g. suitable for music video clips.

Here you can change the value to what you want and click OK. Then there will be a pop up window saying "Do you want to apply the new setting to the current project? This may override manually modified values", click Yes, then ConvertXtoDVD will automatically insert a chapter point every X minutes or seconds as you have set. Note this operation will replace all the previously set chapters and will apply to all Titlesets in this project.

If you uncheck both settings and use the Add function to make 1 or more Titleset(s), you will end up with a DVD with one or more Title(s) and only a chapter point at start of each Title.

2. Manually add chapter point

a. First method to add chapters

After loading your video files into ConvertXtoDVD, select the Titleset you want to add chapters(1), the video will appear in the preview window. Drag the slider to navigate through the video and preview it in the video preview window. When you find the frame with which you want to start a chapter, right click on the cursor and select "Add chapter at cursor position"(2). The individual chapters are displayed as little pins () on the timeline.

To remove a chapter, select the chapter to remove on the timeline, right-click and select "Remove chapter at cursor position". To move a chapter, hold down the left mouse button on the chapter pin and drag it to move it along the timeline.

Note: The first pin (blank) can not be moved or deleted and a maximum of 99 chapter points can be created.

b. Second method to add chapters

After loading your video files into ConvertXtoDVD, select the Titleset you want to add chapters, click the + beside this Titleset(1), right click on "Chapters" and select "Add Chapter"(2).

To remove a chapter, select the chapter to remove, right-click and select "Remove Chapter".

Note: The first chapter can never be removed and a maximum of 99 chapter points can be created.
