What is DVD authoring?

DVD Authoring is the process of creating a DVD video from interactive content and graphics and burning the DVD video to a DVD disc which can be played on standalone DVD player. The interactive content and graphics in an authored DVD may include a starting logo, menu page(s), scene selection(chapters), a choice between 2-channel stereo or 5-channel surround sound, an option to turn on or off your subtitles, and many other new features.

DVD authoring is usually done on audiovisual DVD discs as opposed to music discs and it is accomplished with the help of DVD authoring software. DVD authoring software allows you to group, edit the videos, create the menu system, and ultimately output the video files in the right DVD-Video format, then you can burn those files to a DVD disc, which can be read in any DVD player.

How to merge/join video files with convertxtodvd?

1. After loading your first video file into ConvertXtoDVD, right click on the titleset and select "merge more files to this titleset".

2. In the Titleset content editor that will appear, you will see the first video file in the queue list as #1. Now click on the merge button in the very right column to select a video file to be added/joined or drag and drop the video file to the corresponding place.

The added video file will now appear in the queue list as #2, right next to the first file #1, in the chronological order in which they will play. If you have additional audio tracks and/or subtitle files you can add them below the corresponding video file in this window.

Click OK (right bottom) once you're done, this window closes, and the added file(s) will appear under Source file(s) info in your project.

Note: Every merged file adds automatically an start chapter point in the titleset(all merged files make a chapter at merge point) and the maximum number of files that can be merged is 99.

How to adjust window layout in Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD?

Run MPEG Video Wizard DVD, the screenshot is as below.

The layout is the way component windows are arranged and displayed on your computer screen. According to the nature of the editing work, you can adjust the layout as you want.

To select a pre-defined layout, click the "Layout" button on "Toolbar" and select from the drop down menu which lists a set of pre-defined, most commonly used layout.

You can also set your own layout. To do so, select "Unbind Windows" from the layout menu then you can resize / move / close any one of the component windows. To re-open a closed component window, just click the corresponding button on the toolbar.

How to disable menu in ConvertXtoDVD?

Q: Does anybody know if you can get rid of menus when producing a DVD using ConvertXtoDVD. I really don't want to have the menus, but it seems there is no way to disable it.

A: After you have added your video files, click the plus sign beside "DVD Options" to reveal all the options. Top option should be "Template Now Used". Double click "Template Now Used" option, a select box will appear. Click the box and select the "No menu" option in the drop down list of menu choices.
